Dear Mr. Calhoun,
I am writing in support of Friends of Deckers Creek (FODC), and its mission of improving the natural qualities in the watershed. In particular, I urge the Office of Surface Mining to award Watershed Cooperative Agreement Program funds to FODC for two projects, the Satcher Portal Acid Mine Drainage Remediation Project and the Blanket Drain #1 Acid Mine Drainage Remediation Project. Kanes Creek has steep rocky sections that might be favored by trout, as well as a pond that might provide a location for fishing for other fish species. However, acid mine drainage prevents all these resources from holding fish at this time. The projects FODC is proposing must be accomplished in order for this stream to recover from damage caused by pre-law mining. Please fund FODC’s WCAP proposals. Sincerely, [NAME] [ADDRESS]
